The best things to do in Marbella in June

Attend Feria de San Bernabé

Marbella's fair decorations

Feria de San Bernabé is one of Marbella’s most important annual events.

It takes place every second week of June, and for four days, you can expect traditional dancing and singing, food, drinks, competitions, and other entertainment.

Many of us dress for the occasion. In this case, we wear traditional flamenco dresses. If you want to fit in even more, you can buy one of these dresses, which aren’t cheap.

It’s free, fun and a good way to learn about the local culture and people.

Join the locals on Saint John’s Eve

Another local event in June is Saint John’s Eve, which is celebrated on the evening of the 23rd.

Celebrations take place on the beaches along Marbella and the rest of the Costa del Sol. Family and friends meet and celebrate this evening by setting bonfires and having food and drinks.

The atmosphere is very lively, and you can also expect fireworks at midnight.

It’s definitely an event worth experiencing (at least once!)

However, please be a responsible traveller and tidy up after yourself. It’s a shame that many people leave rubbish on the beach, and the cleaning services have a big job to do the following day.

Watch the sunset on a rooftop terrace

Nothing gets better than watching the sun go down.

The beautiful sky colours, warm temperature and lively atmosphere make it so special.

You don’t need to go to a rooftop terrace to watch the sunset, but it’s even better with live music, good company and a cocktail.

360 Blue Rooftop in the Óbal Urban Hotel and the one at Linda Boutique Hotel are my favourites in the old town.

However, if you want the sea breeze hitting your face and stunning ocean views, go to the Belvue Rooftop Bar

Discover the old town

Calle Nueva, a picturesque street in Marbella Old Town, Spain.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that Marbella Old Town has a place in my heart. It’s my favourite spot.

Since you’ll be visiting Marbella in the summer, I actually recommend exploring its streets in the early morning when the sun isn’t very strong yet.

Have traditional churros at Churrería Ramón or grab a croissant from Kafein (they’re so good!). Then, get lost in the streets with boutique shops, restaurants, and cafes.

Some of the main attractions you shouldn’t miss are the pretty Orange Square, La Encarnación Church, Marbella Castle Walls and the Spanish Engravings Museum.

I’d also add streets like Carmen and Calle Nueva to your itinerary. They’re the most picturesque!

Quench your thirst at a beach club

There isn’t a shortage of beach bars and clubs in Marbella. There are many and most offer a lively and fun atmosphere.

If you aren’t bothered by spending a full day at an upscale beach club, I recommend Calma, a short walk from the old town.

It’s been refurbished and taken by new owners. I love the sea views and cocktails there. The piña colada is my go to.

However, if you are after a big party and a full day of pool, live music and drinks, go to the classic beach clubs like Nikki Beach and Ocean Beach.

Go on a river walk

Most summer activities involve either the beach or pool, but what if you could cool down while exploring nature?

You have the option of doing a river walk very close to Marbella.

The Benahavis River is a great spot for swimming and canoeing, and you don’t have to do it alone.

I’d instead recommend taking a tour like this one. You’ll be guided by an experienced person and you’ll have fun meeting new people.

After the walk, I suggest checking out the little town of Benahavis, which is still considered a gem.

Do water activities

Puerto Banus Beach, Marbella

June is a fantastic time to be on the beach. It’s warm, and you won’t usually see crowded beaches if you go at the beginning of the month.

One of the best beaches in Marbella for water activities is Playa Puerto Banus. You can do anything from jet skiing and paddle boarding to renting a pedal boat with friends or going on the banana boat.

Cabopino is another beach I recommend for fun activities and camping if you prefer a more low-key accommodation.

Book a cruise in Puerto Banus

Boats in Puerto Banus, Marbella, Spain

Puerto Banus is all about the glam and luxury lifestyle. A stroll along Puerto Banus is definitely an experience.

Although I can’t recommend eating in the port, besides Picasso Pizzeria, I do suggest booking a cruise

Depending on your budget, you can pick between a group boat trip or a private one.

The morning or afternoon group cruises are great if you want to jump in the sea and maybe try paddle boarding.

For a more intimate experience such as proposals, birthdays or anniversaries, the private boat trips at sunset never disappoint.

Go to a nearby water park

First of all, there isn’t a water park in Marbella. Some guides aren’t accurate. However, the city isn’t far from popular water parks on the Costa del Sol.

The closest is Aqua Mijas, which is between Fuengirola and Mijas Costa.

However, the best water park is Aqualand in Torremolinos. It has more attractions than Aqua Mijas.

Besides water parks, you can also enjoy Costa Water Park in Puerto Banus Beach or stay at hotels with small water parks like Alua Sun Marbella Park.

Conclusion
