6 Must-try Ice Cream Shops in Marbella

There’s nothing better than cooling down with an ice cream on a sunny day in Marbella. Whether you love classic or unique flavours, you’re spoilt for choice.

And if you’re looking for the best ice cream shops in Marbella, my partner and I have done the legwork for you.

My partner loves ice cream and is always up for it, any time of the day or year. I don’t share the same love for ice cream, but I do enjoy ordering one every now and then. You won’t see me ordering one in winter, though. Locals like me don’t tend to eat ice cream when it’s cold, but for him, who’s from the UK, it’s a different matter.

We have personally tried and tasted most of these ice cream shops, and those that we haven’t are next on the list. I’ll definitely disclaim when I haven’t been to one.

With no further discussion, here are our favourite ice cream parlours in Marbella.

Gioelia Cremeria Italiana

Price for a medium tub: 4 euros

Flavours tried: 3 (mango, lemon and chocolate)

⭐️ Rating: 4 out of 5

Gioelia is one of the top ice cream parlours in Marbella. There are a couple of them, including one near the old town and another one on the beach promenade.

They look beautiful on the inside and the outside. The decor is lovely, clean and modern. I think it’s the best decorated!

On average, they have twenty different ice creams. Some of the flavours include pistachio, crema catalana (Spanish crème brûlée), strawberry, yoghurt, and chocolate.

We tried the lemon and mango ice creams. Both were very smooth and light. They also had a nice flavour and weren’t too intense.

On another occasion, Tom tasted the chocolate ice cream, and it was a hit too.

Next time, I want to try other flavours and order a cone instead of a tube. The cones look delicious and aren’t the average cones; some have the rind covered in chocolate and pistachios!

It’s definitely a fantastic place for ice cream, but you can also enjoy eating cakes, crepes and waffles.

El Piave

Price for a medium tub: 4,90 euros

Flavours tried: 2 (banana split and lemon)

⭐️Rating: 4 out of 5

El Piave isn’t as visible as the other ice cream shops mentioned in this article, but let me tell you it’s a hundred per cent worth visiting.

It’s located next to La Constitución Park, one of the hidden gems in Marbella that I love spending time in. It’s a peaceful and lovely park.

Going back to reviewing El Piave, I feel like the decoration isn’t as beautiful as in others, but it wins in flavour, which I think matters more when looking for a good ice cream.

It is still very clean and spacious inside, and you can sit at one of their outdoor tables too.

They have over 20 flavours, from Oreo and Kinder Bueno to white chocolate alfajores and more traditional flavours like strawberry, chocolate and lemon.

I don’t normally order the Banana split flavour, but it was such a great idea to get it! It’s become my favourite ice cream flavour, and El Piave has the best. It’s smooth and flavourful. You can taste the banana, and I like the chocolate bits too.

My partner chose lemon, which had a very sharp flavour and zingy taste. It was a bit dense and not as smooth as other flavours, but he thoroughly enjoyed it.

If you have any intolerance, every ice cream container has very visible information about the allergens, which is very useful.

Besides ice cream, they also serve crepes, good-looking cakes, coffee and tea.

Many people hang out there just for a coffee or merienda.

Jijonenca

Price for a medium tub: 5,20 euros

Flavours tried: 2 (raspberry sorbet and mint chocolate)

⭐️ Rating: 4 out of 5

Jijonenca is among the most popular ice cream shops in Marbella. I don’t think it’s surprising, considering it has been open since 1969, and it’s an excellent location, on the beach promenade.

This ice cream parlour has lots of outdoor seating, and comfy tables and chairs in white and red colours.

Wondering about flavours? They have loads! I’d say around 30, such as lemon, chocolate, red velvet, chocolate, raspberry, passion fruit, coconut and vanilla.

My partner and I shared a medium tub, and since we have different taste buds, we picked a flavour each. I picked the raspberry sorbet, and he picked the mint chocolate ice cream.

I’m not a fan of minty chocolate, so I didn’t try it. According to him, the ice cream had lots of chocolate pieces and it was light, so you won’t feel like stopping eating it.

My raspberry sorbet scoop was light and the flavour was nice, but I’ve had better ones.

On top of ice cream, they also offer sandwiches, crepes, smoothies, iced coffee and more.

Purolatte

purolatte ice cream shop

Price for a medium tub: 3,90 euros

Flavours tried: 1 (mango)

⭐️ Rating: 4 out of 5

Purolatte is my go-to cafe for merienda (late afternoon snack). I love the chai lattes and crepes there. However, they also serve ice cream.

They don’t have as many flavours as other places, but you’re guaranteed 100% homemade ice cream with good ingredients.

Some of the flavours you can enjoy include vanilla, dark chocolate, lotus, coconut and pistachio.

I’ve only tried the mango ice cream, which was very good! Creamy, light and sweet.

Other places to get ice cream in Marbella

Amorino ice cream shop in Marbella.

Here is a small list of other ice cream parlours recommended by other travellers:

  • Amorino near the five-star El Fuerte hotel . This is an international ice cream shop, so you’ve probably heard of it. I’ve tried their ice creams but not in Marbella. However, I don’t think there’ll be a massive difference in flavour from one country or another. Ice creams are good, and what I love the most is how they’re served, in a cone in the shape of a flower.
  • Charly Cook. Located in The Forum, the chef is specialised in rolled ice cream. This one is still on my list, and I can’t wait to try it. The decor looks so Insta-worthy, too!
