My Review of Tragabuches Marbella By Dani Garcia
If you’re looking for an exceptional culinary experience, you must visit Tragabuches Marbella.
This restaurant, by the renowned local chef Dani Garcia, offers authentic Andalusian dishes beautifully presented. Not only is the food delicious, but the decor and atmosphere are amazing.
My partner and I recently went to this restaurant and must admit that it met our expectations.
In this blog, I’ll tell you all the details about Tragabuches and give you my honest review.

My Review of Tragabuches Marbella
Location

The restaurant is next to the motorway between Puerto Banús and San Pedro de Alcántara. The location is a bit unusual as it’s next to a small shopping complex and residential area.
How do I get to Tragabuches? I hear you ask. The easiest way is to drive there, but bear in mind that the Marbella motorway is usually very busy, especially in the summer, so if you have a reservation at 2 pm, set off with plenty of time.
The restaurant has a small car park for customers, but if there isn’t a space for you, there’s street parking nearby.
If you’re staying in Puerto Banus, you can also take an Uber to the restaurant. It will cost you approximately 7 to 8 euros one way.
Lastly, you can also take the 13 or L-79 Estepona bus from Marbella centre. The journey is 25 minutes without traffic. These buses can get crowded, so they’re a good option if you’re on a budget and don’t have a rental car, but not if you don’t like crowded spaces.
Food

The restaurant focuses on Andalusian cuisine, but every dish is elevated to the next level. It offers a fusion of traditional and new techniques. Whether you want breakfast, lunch or dinner, Tragabuches Marbella is just ideal.
The breakfast menu has all the typical Andalusian dishes any local would have for breakfast, along with a few international dishes like Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon and Pain au Chocolate.
I love its Andalusian menu, which includes a mollete (a delicious rounded bread from Antequera, Malaga) with Iberian Ham, coffee or tea and orange juice.
The A la Carte menu has fantastic options you won’t be able to resist. You can have anything from a cheese board and a piece of tortilla, a popular dish in the restaurant, to gazpacho, sea bass, lobster and grilled meat.
It isn’t easy to make up your mind with such a wide variety, but I’ve given you my recommendations below.
If you have a sweet tooth, you must save some space for dessert. There are only seven desserts on the menu, but they’re delightful.
The Payoyo Cheesecake is my favourite, but you can also enjoy other sweet dishes like Freshly Baked Apple Tart, Toriija (similar to French Toast) and Churros.
Drinks

As you walk into Tragabuches, you’ll find a wide collection of wines on the right side.
If you’re a wine lover, you’ll definitely be happy to see the numerous bottles of high-quality wines, including local ones, in the restaurant. Taste a dry sherry, white, red or sparkling wine. You won’t be disappointed.
Besides wine, you can also order beers, soft drinks and juices.
Fancy sitting at the bar? They also serve top-notch mocktails and cocktails.
My Little World of Travelling Review

We went for lunch on a weekday, so we took advantage of the set menu, which is amazing value for money. When we went, it consisted of a cold starter, a warm starter, a main, and a dessert. All of these dishes were 25 euros per person.
However, it’s changed a little bit. Now, the set menu includes a starter and a main for 34 euros per person. You’ll have to pay extra for your drinks and dessert.
The set menu’s theme is Andalucia, so it’s a great place to sample the local cuisine.
We ordered the Russian Salad, Three Tomato Salad, Pringá and Ham Croquettes, Picaña (Top Sirloin Cap), Marinated Chicken Thighs with chips, Cheesecake and Flan.
Every dish was flavourful and perfectly prepared, but the Tomato Salad was my highlight. It sounds like a simple dish, but it isn’t. It includes three different types of tomatoes: cherry tomatoes, huevo de toro (a local tomato) and purple tomatoes seasoned with salt in a silky and delicious olive oil base sauce.
The desserts were a surprise, too. They are made on-site, and the waiter comes with a huge tin where the cheesecake is cooked and serves it to you. It’s spongy and so good. The flan isn’t just the typical one; it has a smooth texture and comes with vanilla whipped cream.
Facilities

In addition to onsite parking for customers, Tragabuches also has other facilities worth mentioning.
If you come with children, the restaurant has a kids’ club where they can paint and play. Although I don’t have kids, I’m pretty sure that little ones will enjoy the ball pool.
Also, it has a lovely bar and a terrace where you can enjoy an alfresco meal.
Conclusion: Is Tragabuches Marbella worth visiting?
It’s a yes from me. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant, and the food is delicious. On top of this, the prices are reasonable, especially if you opt for the weekday lunch set menu or breakfast.
There’s another Tragabuches restaurant owned by Dani Garcia, but it’s in Madrid. I haven’t tried that one, so I can’t really talk about it.
Besides Tragabuches, Dani Garcia has other restaurants in Marbella, such as Leña and Lobito de Mar, so you might want to try them as well.
