My Review Of Nobu Hotel Marbella

Is it worth staying at Nobu Hotel Marbella? My answer is yes. It’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at.

You’re taken care of from the moment you arrive at the hotel. The concierges take your luggage to the room; you’re welcomed with a drink while you check in and sit down in a comfy chair in a stylish room, and finally, you’re taken to your room in a golf cart.

It’s the perfect hotel for couples who are looking for a luxurious hotel experience.

This was a wedding gift from a good friend, so it wasn’t sponsored or a hotel collaboration. This review is based purely on my personal stay, and I’ve written about it because I really enjoyed it; I just wish we had spent more time at the hotel.

While I know Marbella like the back of my hand and spend quite a bit of time there as a Costa del Sol local, I had never experienced staying at one of the best resorts.

In this review, I’ll cover my stay and other information you might want to know before booking.

Location

Nobu Hotel is located in the Nueva Andalucía area, between Marbella centre and Puerto Banus. It’s in a great location, well known for opulent, luxurious five-star hotels and restaurants.

It’s within Puente Romano Beach Resort; it’s, in fact, a sister hotel, and you get access to the same things.

I’d say that Nobu is more targeted to couples looking for the adult-only vibe, whereas Puente Romano is more popular among families.

The resort, as I said, is big, and another good thing about it is that it has the beach on your doorstep. My room was a three-minute walk to the beach and the promenade.

Rooms

If I had to pick a word to describe my room, I would say “amazing”.

The rooms are modern, stylish and very spacious. I was impressed by the amenities in the room.

When I came into the room, a few goodies were waiting for us, from gorgeous homemade macarons to a perfect-looking peach and red wine.

The beds are super comfortable and the staff comes in the evening to place the pillows and prepare the bed ready for sleeping.

The bathrooms have everything you can think of.

I had forgotten my straighteners at home and was surprised to find one in the bathroom. The toiletries basket also had shower caps, combs, a sewing kit, toothbrushes, a bath glove, and a shaving kit.

The showers are top-notch, with a rainfall shower and body jets. Our friends had a jacuzzi in their bathroom too!

While there’s a mini bar, bear in mind that prices are very high, especially for alcohol. We didn’t end up having anything, but it’s worth knowing.

Besides this, you can also find a steamer, a safe, a coffee machine, a kettle, and other items.

I don’t drink coffee, so I did have a look at the tea selection, which included English breakfast tea, Moroccan mint tea and chamomile.

Last but not least, our rooms had small and private balconies which I didn’t end up using since we didn’t spend much time at the hotel. While it looked cosy, I feel like it could have a better view rather than another block of rooms.

Facilities

The resort is quite big as it’s linked to Puente Romano. In addition to a wide range of restaurants, which I’ll mention below, it has numerous pools, including an adult-only pool where you can enjoy the tranquil vibes, have a cocktail and sunbathe.

Food

Breakfast

The breakfast buffet at Nobu is outstanding. I had high expectations, and it exceeded them.

It’s located in El Pimpi restaurant, and you can choose from indoor or outdoor seats. If it’s a nice sunny morning like the one I had, I recommend having breakfast outside. It’s peaceful, and the setting is so picturesque.

It includes a wide range of fruits, including some of the most tropical, like dragon fruit and passionfruit, organic yoghurts, freshly squeezed juices and healthy shots, cereals, mini baguettes with Iberian ham and other bits.

I thought the selection was really good and all the ingredients looked high quality. You can go back and get as much as you want, but you can also order from their menu.

I could have easily picked five different things. It was difficult to make up my mind, but I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Norwegian smoked salmon, and it was spot on.

The hollandaise sauce was silky but not too rich, the eggs were cooked to perfection, and the salmon was so flavourful.

My husband had the Big Ben, which included Irish bacon, a fried egg, Cumberland sausage, portobello mushrooms, wilted spinach, and gluten-free bread. It looked pretty good, and it was nicely presented in a big pan.

Restaurants

There are over 20 restaurants inside the resort. You’re definitely spoilt for choice. Whether you want Spanish, Italian or Middle Eastern food, you’ll find your spot.

I didn’t try any of the restaurants inside the hotel as the prices are pretty high. We opted for having dinner in Marbella Old Town, my favourite spot in the city.

However, I can talk about El Pimpi, since the original restaurant is in Malaga, and I believe this one is similar. The only difference is the price (yes, it’s more expensive).

The restaurant offers delicious Spanish dishes approved by locals like myself and travellers. I love the fritura malagueña (mixed fried fish and seafood).

Of all the restaurants, the Greek restaurant, GAIA, looks pretty good, and I would love to try it sometime.

Nobu, a Japanese restaurant, also seems to be a must-try for sushi lovers.

Activities

Your stay comes with complimentary activities, so you can fully relax and enjoy the Nobu experience.

Some of the activities are yoga (there’s a mat in your bedroom so no need to bring one), Pilates, and tennis. You can also access the pools and gym for free.

Paid activities include the Six Senses Spa, where you can treat yourself to a treatment, a private sailing experience, and golf.

Things to do near Nobu Hotel Marbella

Since the hotel is nestled between Marbella Centre and Puerto Banus, you aren’t far away from attractions.

Some of the things you can do within walking distance are:

Visiting Marbella Mosque
Spending the day at the beach
Walking on the beach promenade

While the following places aren’t within walking distance, you can grab transportation to easily access them. Nobu also offers a free shuttle to Marbella Centre and Puerto Banus; however, you can’t book it in advance. It’s great if it happens to be there at the hotel when you want to head to one of these places.

Bear in mind that it’s possible to walk to some, but it will take you a while to get to these places. Here are my top activities near Nobu:

Wandering the old town. You also have the option of taking a self-guided audio walking tour like mine, so you don’t miss the main spots.
Visiting Cabopino sand dunes and doing the walk.
Spending the day at La Cabane beach club (only open during peak season)
Doing a sunset cruise in Puerto Banús
