My Review of La Brisa del Mar Hotel, Estepona
I fancied a birthday getaway like every year, and I decided to look at hotels in Estepona. Staycations are best when you don’t want to travel far from home.
While I’ve been to Estepona many times for day trips and to visit one of my friends who lives there, I hadn’t actually stayed overnight, so this was my chance.
While researching, I found La Brisa del Mar hotel, and it looked nice in pictures, so I decided to book it.
In this article, I’m telling you all about La Brisa Del Mar boutique hotel. Please bear in mind that this review wasn’t sponsored or a complimentary stay. I paid for my stay and wanted to write about my positive experience.

Location
The hotel is located in the heart of Estepona old town, specifically in Calle Malaga, an easy street to remember, being from Malaga!
Before staying at the hotel, I had an idea of where it was, but it was even closer to Plaza de las Flores and the beach than I thought.
It’s in a very good location, as you have restaurants, bars, cafes, and the beach at your doorstep. The beach is literally a two-minute walk.
I think it’s a great spot for travellers who want to sightsee and have a beach holiday.
If you arrive in Estepona by bus, you’ll have to walk 20 minutes to the hotel. However, if you come by car, the hotel doesn’t have a car park, but Parking Zapallito car park is very close and has many spaces.
Rooms
The hotel is small and cosy. It only has 9 rooms. My husband and I stayed at the Junior Suite located on the last floor.
The pictures online don’t do justice to how big the room is. I was very impressed by the size, cleanliness, and amenities.
If you pick this room, you’ll have a sofa facing a flat-screen TV, an open wardrobe with plenty of space to hang up your clothes, a kettle, a safe, a mini fridge, and a very comfortable double bed.
The bathroom is separated from the room by a curtain. However, the toilet is hidden behind a non-transparent glass door for more privacy.
A big perk of the bathroom is the huge bath that also includes a rainfall shower. Something I’ll warn you about is that the bath tap isn’t easy to work out. I spent some time figuring out how it worked, and I was conscious that I didn’t want to open the rainfall shower as it would wet my hair.
Last but not least, I need to mention the spacious private terrace with sun beds. I only stayed a night, so I didn’t make much use of it. Nevertheless, it was lovely to wake up to a view of the old town with birds flying around and the sun breaking through the clouds.
Facilites
The hotel is small, as I mentioned before, so it doesn’t have much compared to other hotels in the area or the large fancy resorts with pools, etc.
I think it’s always nice to stay somewhere with a swimming pool, especially in the summer; I didn’t miss it as I could easily walk to the beach.
While the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant itself, it’s connected to a local cafe (d’Alicia Café) serving a buffet breakfast, but you can also choose individual items from the menu.
They also have a small terrace where you can sit and admire the views.
Staff
I saw two members of staff during my stay, and both were really friendly and helpful.
This is one of the things that made my stay even better and why I’m recommending this hotel to you.
There’s nothing worse than a grumpy or unhappy receptionist who doesn’t care about the guests’ needs.
Before we arrived at the hotel, we received a WhatsApp message to do the online check in which sped up the time at reception.
We also arrived earlier than the check in time (3 pm), an hour before, and it was a relief to hear that our room was ready so we dropped the bags before having lunch at El Patio de la Macarena, a popular tapa bar.
The check out was quick and we were allowed to leave the bags until we headed back home.
Price
Compared to other three-star hotels, it wasn’t too expensive. The average price per night is 145 euros during peak season and 95 euros in the off-season.
Things to do near La Brisa del Mar
I briefly mentioned that it is in Estepona old town, but if you have never been, here are some of the activities you can easily do within walking distance from the hotel.
- Wander the picturesque streets of Estepona old town
- Visit the Orchidarium
- Go to La Rada Beach
- Stroll along the beach promenade
- Photograph the street art across Estepona centre
- Enjoy a meal alfresco in one of its pretty squares
- Have cocktails at a rooftop terrace like Bermeja Views located inside the Hotel El Pilar Andalucia

Is it worth staying here?
My answer is yes for solo and couple travellers. I visited it with my husband and we loved it because it’s a family-run business; it felt like we were the only ones staying there and we liked the quietness. Also, the location was ideal for what we wanted to do during our day and a half in Estepona.
If travelling with children, you might want to consider resorts such as Globales Playa Estepona and Elba Estepona Gran Hotel & Thalasso Spa, which have swimming pools and activities for children.
