My Top 3 Picks of the Best Boutique Hotels in Malaga
1. Gran Hotel Miramar GL

Best for a luxurious stay
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A 15-minute walk from Malaga’s main attractions, Gran Hotel Miramar is one of the best luxury hotels in Malaga.
Although it’s not exactly in the city centre like other hotels, the location is fantastic – opposite the beach promenade. By staying in this hotel, you can enjoy a more relaxing atmosphere while being close to the city centre.
What makes Gran Hotel Miramar unique is the rich history behind the building.
In 1926, it was opened by King Alfonso XIII under the name of “Hotel Príncipe de Asturias”. In the 30s, it was used as a hospital during the Spanish Civil War. Then, it served as Malaga’s Palace of Justice, and finally, in 2016, it was brought to life.
The hotel has 190 rooms decorated to perfection. Some rooms have impressive Moorish decorations, while others have a modern Mediterranean-style design.
No matter the room type, all are well-equipped with queen-size beds, TVs, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, mini-bars, safes, coffee and tea facilities, and 24-hour room service.
You can also enjoy the outstanding communal areas at this hotel. The Royal Lounge Coffee & Bar is my favourite spot, as you’re completely mesmerised by the decor and atmosphere.
Another unmissable spot is Restaurante Príncipe de Asturias. The restaurant serves high-quality and seasonal dishes in a luxurious setting with sea views.
2. Only YOU Hotel Málaga

Best for couples
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This five-star hotel is one of the newest adult-only hotels in Malaga. It’s situated in the heart of the city, opposite Larios Street and a short walk from Malaga’s port and main attractions.
The hotel has 93 rooms that have been decorated to perfection. You’ll love the fresh, modern and minimalistic style of the rooms.
The rooms are well equipped with comfortable king-size beds, a Nespresso coffee machine and a kettle with a great selection of teas, a TV, a rainforest shower, free WIFI throughout the hotel and other luxurious amenities.
The Premium Terrace room is one of my favourites as it offers a cosy terrace with stunning views of Malaga city centre.
Apart from these top-notch rooms, the hotel has other communal spaces worth checking out.
Lolita Skyview Pool & Lounge is the best place to chill out and get incredible pictures, whereas Carmen Restaurant is the go-to place to enjoy some traditional Andalusian food.
You can visit the rooftop terrace even if you aren’t staying in the hotel, but it’s very popular and fills up quickly, so you’ll likely have to go to another one.
Anyone can visit the restaurant, so you don’t need to stay at the hotel to enjoy their culinary experience.
Other great things about the Only YOU hotel are that you can visit it with your pet, they have a laundry service, and a 24-hour room service in case you’d love some food delivered to your room.
3. Palacio Solecio

Best for a stylish stay
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Palacio Solecio is at the heart of Malaga’s Old Town, just a few steps from some of the most popular museums, such as the Picasso Malaga Museum and the beautiful Moorish Alcazaba fortress-palace.
The property is an 18th-century Andalusian palace whose architectural and design elements have been preserved throughout the hotel.
There are 68 elegant rooms with different styles and features, but all of them include a double bed, spacious bathroom, flat-screen TV, free WiFi, Nespresso coffee machine, air conditioning and heating.
Of all the rooms, the Tower is the most unique room as it’s the only one located on the top floor and has access to a lovely terrace with views of Malaga Cathedral.
Inside boutique Palacio Solecio, you’ll also find a restaurant and cocktail bar. The restaurant, Balausta Restaurant, serves traditional Andalusian dishes with a modern twist.
It’s also here where you can try the delicious Malaga salad or Gazpachuelo, two popular dishes in the city.

All the rooms include a comfortable and spacious bed, a flatscreen TV, WiFi, a full-length mirror, a mini bar, a work desk, coffee and tea facilities and a tile-covered bathroom with an incredible rain shower.
If you’re looking for the ultimate experience at Room Mate Valeria, book their Junior Suite with incredible views of Malaga’s port.
