I love taking photos in Benalmádena, and whether you’re into photography, want to capture some holiday memories with your family or partner, or publish them on social media, you’re spoiled for beautiful locations.

My favourite photo locations in Benalmadena
1. Castillo de Colomares

Colomares Castle is the most instagrammable spot in Benalmadena. This monument in the shape of a castle has mesmerising architectural details, and its location makes you feel like you’re part of a fairytale.
You can take shots from many angles and get amazing pictures. The options are really endless.
It’s a beautiful spot for taking engagement photos because it’s incredibly romantic.
Having said that, this attraction gets quite busy, which makes it feel even more crowded because it’s very small.
This is why I recommend going as soon as it opens or near the closing time. Still, you might struggle with the crowds, especially during high season.
📍Exact location: Finca la Carraca, Ctra. Costa del Sol, s/n, 29639 Benalmádena, Málaga
2. Benalmadena Old Town

Benalmadena Old Town, known as Benalmadena Pueblo, is charming and picturesque and has a more laid-back and authentic atmosphere compared to other parts of the town, including the beach and marina.
It’s my favourite spot to get lost in the streets and take photos of cosy squares, narrow streets and spontaneous shots of life in the old town.
Here are some of what I consider the best photo spots in Benalmadena Pueblo:
- Plaza de España. The old town’s main square features a fountain with the statue of a girl in the middle and surrounded by restaurants.
- Calle Alamos. A pretty street lined with houses decorated with abundant plants and flowers.
- Calle Real. A lovely street featuring a fountain and boutique shops. I love the shop front of A Sol y Sombra and El Jardin de las Naranjas. They’re very instagrammable.
- Jardines del Muro. This park and garden offers gorgeous views of Benalmadena, making it an excellent spot for pictures.
📍Exact location: Benalmadena Pueblo, 29639 Benalmádena, Málaga
3. Castillo de El-Bil-Bil

Colomares Castle is often considered a castle, but if you read above, it isn’t; however, Bil Bil Castle is one.
This pastel red building looks beautiful on the outside, but it is beautiful on the inside too. While you can take charming photos outside, I also recommend going inside the building. It’s nowadays the cultural centre of Benalmadena, but it has a lovely courtyard inside, and, yes, people often get married in this location.
📍Exact location: Av. Antonio Machado, 78, 29631 Benalmádena, Málaga
4. Stupa of Enlightenment Benalmádena

The Buddhist temple is the most unique building in Benalmadena, not only because you don’t expect a building like this in the middle of Benalmadena, but also because it’s the only one in Spain.
You can take some incredible photos of the temple and yourself with it. In any case, I recommend not being too close so that whoever is taking the photo ensures the whole temple is visible.
Next to the temple, there’s also a viewpoint with stunning views of the coast.
📍Exact location: Av. Retamar, s/n, 29639 Benalmádena, Málaga
5. Parque de la Paloma

If you’re looking for a green space, Parque de la Paloma is the place to go, especially when travelling in Benalmadena with kids. This beautiful park features a large pond with ducks and swans, numerous green spaces for picnicking, large statues, a huge wooden bench, and even a café.
I see numerous photo opportunities around the park, and you’ll likely spot small animals, such as peacocks and rabbits, running around.
Also, it has a cactus garden, which is completely different from the other parts of the park.
I see La Paloma Park ideal for family and friends photos.
📍Exact location: Av. Federico García Lorca, s/n, 29630 Benalmádena, Málaga
6. Puerto Marina

Benalmadena Marina is the most touristy area, but you can still get some lovely photos of the boats at sunset (just like the one you see above).
I prefer photographing the marina to getting other people’s pictures in the area.
The reason behind it is that it’s usually busy, and you need to get a good angle. I think that not every part of the marina looks nice.
However, if you aren’t scared of heights, you can also take good photos from Benalmadena’s wheel. I haven’t been on it yet, but I bet it’s worth it for the views.
📍Exact location: C. La Fragata, A11, 29630 Benalmádena, Málaga
7. Benalmadena sign
A short walk from Puerto Marina, you’ll find a wall with colourful tiled letters reading Benalmadena.
It’s the typical spot where you’d take a photo to let everyone know where you’re holidaying.
📍Exact location: P.º Marítimo, 2, 29631 Benalmádena, Málaga
8. Cable Car

If you’re looking to take bird-eye view photos, there’s no better place than Benalmadena Cable Car.
The views are stunning, you really get a perfect shot of the town and coastline. I must say that taking photos inside the cable car isn’t easy, and if you pop your lens outside the window, do be careful!
Alternatively, I recommend arriving at the top of Monte Calamorro, as there’s a viewpoint with a beautiful view and opportunities to take photos with your family, partner or friends.
📍Exact location: Explanada del Tivoli, s/n, 29631 Benalmádena, Málaga
Local tip
Interested in visiting Selwo Marina to see dolphins and other sea animals? Get the combo ticket that includes the cable car ride plus entrance to Selwo Marina; it’s cheaper than getting individual tickets for each attraction.
9. Escollera Torre Vigía

Many of the beaches in Benalmadena tick off all the boxes for taking photos. However, one of my favourite beaches is Playa de Torrevigía because it feels more secluded and quieter than others.
You have quite a few photo opportunities here, from above, on the beach or near the rocks.
In addition to this, I also like Tulum Bar as it has all the holiday vibes and is aesthetically pleasing.
The best time to take photos in this spot is during the golden hour, so be sure to check when the sunset occurs. I find this website helpful.
📍Exact location: Sunset Beach Club, Paseo Marítimo, s/n, 29630 Benalmádena, Málaga
10. Mirador de Columpio

Who doesn’t like a swing with a view? Well, this is the case of Mirador de Culumpio.
I didn’t know about this spot until I was randomly looking at places in Google Maps, and yes, I found it!
Many travellers miss this spot, but I’m not surprised because it isn’t central nor a busy area. It’s in Torremuelle, on the road that leads to Fuengirola.
It’s really a lovely spot for a solo picture!
📍Exact location: Ctra. Cádiz, 167, 29639 Benalmádena, Málaga
11. Yucas Mare Restaurant

I had to include this restaurant in the list because the food is delicious and it’s photogenic.
The restaurant is in the Torrequebrada area, right on the beach. When I visited it first, I thought the building was only the Yucas Mare Restaurant, but then I realised that another bar from the same chain shares the same building.
Go down to the Yucas Mare Restaurant, as the one you access directly from the beach promenade is the Yucas Café & Bar, which also has lovely views, but I prefer the restaurant.
Why? You might ask, well, not only can you eat a fancier meal, but you can also enjoy a better view of the coastline. It’s extremely magical at sunset!
This place is perfect for a romantic meal, and what better way to remember it than taking some couple photos.
When I visited it last time, I had a meal at one of the domes! I think they’re only available off-season due to the heat.
📍Exact location: C. Torrequebrada, Planta -1, 29630 Benalmádena, Málaga
