Bus

“Is there a bus that goes from Nerja to Frigiliana?” Yes.

The bus to Frigiliana is fast, cheap and regular, so you don’t need to worry too much about the time to go there or return to Nerja.

It’s a very good option for travellers who don’t want to rent a car. The bus departs from Nerja bus station, which is an outdoor station.

You can get the bus tickets from the driver, so there is no need to go to the small bus ticket office. However, you can only pay with cash.

Having taken this bus a couple of times, I highly recommend checking the timetable online and arriving 10 to 15 minutes early.

It’s unsurprising to see big queues to get on the bus, so you might need to wait for the next one. This happens even more during the peak season. The bus has seats, but there’s a chance that you’ll need to stand up.

The bus journey doesn’t take more than 15 minutes, so it’s fairly quick!

Another important note is to get off the bus at the last stop, which is the Frigiliana historic centre, where you’ll find all the attractions and the only area worth visiting.

Car

Travelling from Nerja to Frigiliana by car is straightforward. When you see the roundabout with the sign reading Frigiliana, follow the road towards the mountains. There are clear signs indicating the road, so there’s no way you’ll get lost.

The road is hilly and narrow at times, and once you arrive in Frigiliana, head up to the historic centre. Finding free parking on the streets or near this part of town can be tough, but it’s worth trying. It’s even busier on days like the Sugar Cane Honey Festival, which I recently attended.

If not, you always have the option to go to the paid car park beneath Plaza de las Tres Culturas or leave the historic centre and park further away if you’re willing to walk.

The paid car park is very convenient and inexpensive. It costs €1.50 per hour and has a maximum daily rate of €10 (8.60 GBP). This underground parking has an electric car charging station, it’s adapted for travellers with reduced mobility, and it has public toilets.

Taxi

Another option for travelling from Nerja to Malaga is by taxi. Taxis are usually available at the Nerja bus station; however, they can also be found in other popular areas across the town.

The taxi ride from Nerja to Malaga is about 12 minutes, and the cost is between €15 and €20 (13 to 17 GBP).

I personally prefer Uber for convenience and its slightly lower cost, but an independent taxi is another option to consider, especially if you’re already there.

Uber

Taking Uber is another good option to travel to Frigiliana

Is there Uber in Nerja? Yes, Nerja and other popular coastal towns in Malaga have Uber.

It’s very easy to order an Uber, as you’ll follow the same steps as you’d do anywhere else in the world. Grab your phone, open the Uber app, and enter your destination (in this case, Frigiliana). You’ll get information about how long it will take and how much it will cost.

On average, the Uber ride from Nerja to Frigiliana costs 12 euros (10 GBP) one-way and takes 12 minutes.

If you choose the premium ride in a luxury car, you’ll pay approximately 16 euros (13 GBP).

Uber is a very convenient option for travellers who don’t have a car and don’t want to join the bus crowds.

Something to bear in mind is that the taxi driver might take a bit longer to arrive if they come from Nerja to Frigiliana. It’s happened to me before, but it’s all fine as long as you aren’t in a rush.
