My Review of Catalonia Ronda Hotel

I had been to Ronda many times, but just for half a day or a few hours. It wasn’t until recently that I stayed in Ronda for a full weekend.

Of all the hotels, the Catalonia Hotel had always been on my list. The aesthetics and location caught my attention.

By chance, I got invited to a press trip, and the hotel chosen was the Catalonia Hotel. I was over the moon!

In this review, I’m going to tell you about my experience at the hotel and if it lived up to my expectations. Short answer: it did.

I enjoyed a complimentary stay, but I was never asked to write about the hotel itself, but my trip to Ronda, so all my opinions are my own.

The location

I personally think the hotel has one of the best locations in Ronda.

If another hotel might beat this one, it’s the Parador because you get a direct view of Ronda’s New Bridge.

However, the Catalonia Ronda Hotel also offers lovely views of the famous bullring, and some room balconies have a view of Plaza del Socorro.

Staying here puts you a short walk from the main attractions, such as Puente Nuevo (see photo above), restaurants, and shops.

The rooms

The rooms are modern, stylish and comfortable.

My room ticked off all the boxes. On my right-hand side, I had a huge wardrobe with plenty of space for my clothes.

On the left-hand side was the bathroom. It was a very decent-sized bathroom with a toilet, a bidet, a sink with a big horizontal mirror, and a rainfall shower.

You don’t need to worry about hair dryers as there’s one in each room, and the little rounded mirror was super useful for doing my makeup.

The room was quite spacious. The bed was comfortable and could easily fit three people. I felt like sleeping in a cloud.

Although I didn’t bring my laptop with me (unusual), I know it would have been perfect for working.

I loved the complimentary bottle of water and box with Lindt chocolates.

My room also had a small balcony with a peekaboo view of Plaza del Socorro.

Overall, I really liked my room and had no complaints about it.

The buffet breakfast

Buffet breakfast was included in my stay, so I got the chance to try it for two days.

The food selection was quite good. You can have anything from toast and cereals to pastries and fried eggs with bacon.

If you have lactose intolerance or prefer plant-based drinks, they have options.

For drinks, you can have coffee or tea, including English breakfast tea, my favourite.

I opted for toast and jam, fresh fruit and tried a few pastries.

The eggs are done your way, and bacon is prepared as you order it. I would have liked to try it, but I’m more of a sweet breakfast person.

I think the buffet breakfast is good, but I would have liked more variety of fruits.

The bar and restaurant

Located on the last floor, the bar and restaurant are worth visiting during your stay.

I had dinner at the restaurants and was pleased with the food. It wasn’t the best food I had in Ronda, but the plates were nicely put together and delicious.

I tried their charcuterie board, which included different cold meats, nuts, and fruits, potato salad with prawns, tartar, salmon, and chocolate cake.

Of all the dishes, the potato salad was my favourite. The salmon was nice, too.

The only dish I didn’t enjoy was the avocado, tomato and anchovy tartar.

Regarding the bar, it’s a cosy place to sit down and chat. They also put on some football matches.

I would have loved to sit on the terrace in the evening, but the weather wasn’t great, and they closed it.

But I quickly popped into the terrace in the morning, when the weather was lovely, and got a fantastic view of the bullring.

The facilities

Another good reason to stay at Catalonia Hotel Ronda is the facilities. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to enjoy these, but I wish I had time and hope to visit them in the future.

If you come in the summer, not in late autumn, as I did, you’ll be able to enjoy the pool overlooking Ronda Bullring and the mountains. The view is epic.

However, you can enjoy its spa regardless of the time of the year. It includes a sauna, a pool and a sensory shower. And if you want to unwind fully, book a body massage or a facial.

The hotel also has an on-site gym with plenty of machinery to keep fit during your holiday.

Conclusion

Courtyard in Catalonia Ronda

Is it worth staying at Catalonia Ronda? I think it’s a great hotel with superb facilities.

If you visit Ronda in summer, I hundred per cent recommend staying in a hotel with a pool. It’s very hot, and you’ll be grateful for being able to cool down in the pool.
