Málaga is a beautiful European destination to visit any time of the year, however, spring is one of the best seasons to go and here are the reasons why:
- Fewer tourists (apart from Easter).
- Warm temperatures but not too warm like in the summer.
- Easter – if you’re looking for a cultural experience.
It’s a beautiful palace-fortress located in Malaga city centre on the top of a hill. Inside this beautiful place, you can see oranges trees, fountains and amazing architectural designs.
It’s your place if you would love to immerse yourself in history, learn about the culture and enjoy the views.
Insider tip: If you want to enter for free, there is a free tour every Sunday from 2 pm.
Calle Larios and Teatro Romano
Calle Larios is Malaga’s Main Street where many events happen during the year such as Christmas lights, Easter parades, etc. So check the calendar to see what’s going on.
It’s not only a street with many well-known stores where you can buy clothes and restaurants but you can explore its alleys and see monuments such as the cathedral or Teatro Romano.
It’s the port area where you can see beautiful sunsets, enjoy a delicious ice cream or treat yourself. Here, you can also visit the Pompidou Museum and walk to Playa de la Malagueta.
I fell in love with Belgium when I visited it two years ago. The place is beautiful and has many things to offer.
You can find lovely and big parks, impressive attractions like the Atomium and enjoy a portion of Belgian chips with delicious sauces.
I visited it in May and the weather surprised me because it was warm and it seemed more like summer than spring.
The atmosphere was incredible and it happens to be a free music festival as well.
Reasons to travel in spring:
- Warm temperatures.
- Different events are held during this time of the year.
This is a must-see attraction in Brussels that will amaze you. Its complex structure and the views from it are incredible.
However, apart from going up the Atomium, I encourage you to explore the beautiful park next to it and the market.
Also, if you fancy lunch with a view, you can go to the restaurant inside the Atomium. It’s a bit pricey but the food is great and the views even better.
Because of its popularity, you need to book in advance through their website.
It’s one of the most beautiful squares I’ve ever seen! You can see the square surrounded by impressive tall and Gothic buildings such as the guild houses, the City Hall and the Maison du Roi.
Here is where the Christmas Market and other events happen!
New York, USA
Dreaming about the views from the Empire State? You should visit the Big Apple in spring.
New York had been one of my top destinations to visit for a long time and it was May last year when I finally visited it.
You’ll love exploring all those places you have seen many times in films and series. And, if you’re European, you’ll be amazed by the tall buildings with different shapes everywhere!
You’ll feel so small in the big city!
Here are the reasons why:
- Fewer tourists than in other seasons like summer or Christmas.
- Temperatures get warmer.
- Central Park is absolutely beautiful during spring.
I prefer the Rockefeller Centre to Empire State because you get a better view of Central Park.
It gets very busy but it’s very worthy. I went to see the sunset and it was one of the best highlights of my trip to New York.
This is my favourite place in this amazing city. You walk from the busy city surrounded by tall buildings to the park where you feel you’re outside the city.
The park is much bigger than you can think and that’s why you should spend a day or visit it more than once to see all the parts of the park.
Brooklyn Bridge is huge so you spend walking for a while. It connects Manhattan with Brooklyn and close to it you’ll see Manhattan bridge.
You should spend some time in Dumbo, Brooklyn if you want to enjoy the views or have a meal.
Statue of the Liberty
It’s located on Liberty Island so you need to take a mini-cruise to get there. The statue seems to be smaller than you see in films but it’s still impressive.
You can go inside to know more about its history inside and get a different perspective of New York City.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
I visited Amsterdam in February and it was very cold. There was even snow! I loved it but I can’t handle the cold very well.
It seems to be a small city but there are plenty of things to do.
Not only Amsterdam but The Netherlands is amazing during the blossom season. Here are the reasons why:
- Beautiful flower fields.
- Warmer temperatures.
Anne Frank House
This museum is a must because you will learn about World War II and Anne Frank and her family who hid from the Nazis for two years.
The back annex of the museum has been preserved to give you an idea of what life was like for Anne and the families she lived with.
Insider tip: Waiting times are lengthy, so visit the museum early in the morning or book online in advance to avoid big queues.
One of the best ways to travel around Amsterdam is to travel by cruise. You get to see incredible buildings and landscapes.
You can get a cruise canal for a small price and not only will you get the views but you will learn lots about Amsterdam.
I loved it because you get to know the city from a different perspective.
Barcelona is one of the top Spanish cities you must visit. From the picturesque Sagrada Familia to Park Güell.
Reasons why you should experience Barcelona in spring
- Fewer tourists.
- Mild to hot weather.
You’ll fall in love with this building. You’ve seen it thousands of times in pictures but seeing it in person is a different matter.
The area is always busy so be prepared to get up early if you want to take amazing pictures.
At the top of a hill, this park is my favourite corner in Barcelona. Not only will you be impressed by the mosaic art but the beautiful view of Barcelona and the gardens.
It isn’t a surprise that it’s considered a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The multicultural city is one of the top places to visit and spring in London is beautiful!
Not only will you hopefully experience better weather but longer days. The UK weather is very unpredictable and although it may rain you can experience heatwaves in May too.
Who hasn’t heard of the famous Big Ben?
It’s currently undertaking refurbishment works, so if you decide to visit it, you will see a big scaffolding around Big Ben. The project is until 2020 so you’ll see it at its best soon.
Apart from taking beautiful pictures from outside, you should also go inside to learn more about the British Parliament.
I am not into politics but it was interesting to learn more about the different places inside this great building.
It’s one of the most iconic attractions in London and I recommend buying the tickets in advance to save money and time queuing.
A tip is to check the weather the day before to make sure you have a nice view. Although London weather is unpredictable and you can’t rely 100% on it.
You can’t miss the Queen’s Palace. The building is bigger and more beautiful than you can expect. You should visit it early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
If you’re interested in seeing the famous Changing the Guard ceremony, it takes place at 10:45 am outside Buckingham palace.
Hidden gem – Primrose Hill
Located next to the beautiful Regent Park, this is one of my favourite places in London because you can get spectacular views across London.
TIP: If you’re after an afternoon tea experience, you need to check Sketch London.
Dreaming of palm trees, crystal blue sea and a cocktail? Mexico is your top choice because it has a bit of everything.
If you want to disconnect from the world and relax, it’s great. But if you’re an explorer like me, you have impressive monuments and buildings to see.
Did you know that Mexico has one of the wonders of the world? That’s another reason to book your next flight there.
Reasons to travel in spring:
- Warm temperatures (26-29 degrees!).
- It’s the dry season.
- April and May are some of the cheapest months to travel to Mexico.
It’s now considered one of the seven wonders of the world so you cannot leave Mexico without visiting this top attraction.
Chichén Itzá is formed by a group of Mayan ruins in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Inside you can visit the famous pyramid known as El Castillo or Temple of Kukulcan.
It’s amazing to discover this place and learn about its history.
You can travel to Chichén Itzá by car or hire a tour guide from Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
This little town has something for everyone: from its beautiful Mayan ruins to incredible beaches. There are more things than you can imagine, therefore, it is worth to stay more than one night.
Getting a bike is one of the best ways to see this town.
